I not only survived Bible Study, but I was asked to do it a second time.  About half and hour into it, I relaxed and enjoyed myself, but don't want to do it on a regular basis.

We had a good weekend starting with G'mas b'day (and the birth of Joey - wahooooo) then on to Ohio.  Fun stuff... watching the girls pick out pumpkins, playing in the straw, Don played Monopoly with Maddie and Lily, and I played Candy Land with Emily.... yep - that's more my speed!  Going to school and eating lunch with Lily and her first grade class.  And just playing.  The extreme low was learning about Dwight's unexpected homegoing.  We got home safely after a very close near encounter with a deer on 131.  He swerved, we swerved, and disaster was averted.  PTL!

Had a full Saturday in Ft. Wayne - but good and profitable.  Fun times at the Vera Bradley sale and "Mamma Mia"  Have a busy week - had an annual physical yesterday - glad that's done for a year, but I have to get a bone density Test and blood work done, so will be going back next week.  I'm leading the discussion at our Ladies Bible Study tonight.  Our regular leader is out of town and asked me to fill in... whyever did I say yes????  We've had 8 ladies for the last several years - and have 16 this year!  Doing a study on Ruth & Esther, so it's a good one.  I told them I will not be leading the study, I will be facilitating discussion.  Saturday I'm going with our Awana girls to see a replica of the OT Tabernacle that's been in town since June (I'll be finding out tomorrow night how many girls and leaders are going), then in the evening Don & I are going with some friends to see a play called, "Church Basement Ladies."  It's supposed to be pretty funny.  I guess it's not all that busy - I'm sure I'll feel less overwhelmed after the Bible study tonight!!

We did something this past Labor Day that we've talked about for several years - walked "The Bridge."  For those non-Michiganians, that would be the Mackinac Bridge - a span of almost 5 miles.  This annual tradition (this was either the 50th or 51st year for the walk - depending on whose t-shirt you wanted to buy) is lead off by the governor of MI at 7am... and is open to walkers until 11am.  So Don & I left our house at 5am, picked up Tony & Sarah, and got there around 9:00.  Fortunately, it was a beautiful day.  So we joined the hordes of people, got on a school bus to drive to the other side, then walked back to the car.  The point of all this?  Just to say we've done it!  At the half-way point, when we were taking a "Snickers Break," we did see a couple become engaged.  So sweet.  A great day - browsed the gift shops a bit, went into the "Bridge Museum" and saw part of the making of the Bridge, had a picnic lunch, stopped for ice cream in the town that Sarah grew up in, had pizze w/ T&S, and watched a few episodes of "Mr. Bean" at their house before heading home.  All in all, very much fun!  Check out my photo's of the Bridge walk

Our church's community picnic was Saturday - again, a beautiful day.  Had probably around 500 people come - 57 visitor packets were handed out.

Family reunion was wonderful...  so great to see everyone... had lunch w/ Don's mom, friend & sister on the way home... fun to see them on the spur of the moment... went to the beach yesterday, most likely for the final time this year... sigh... it was wonderful... probably the nicest day we've had this year, weather-wise... Don got sunburned.... went on a church-sponsored shopping trip to an outlet mall on Saturday... great fun, great buys... looking forward to the Barber family get-together on Saturday... fall's coming, I'm not ready.

Don's been working hard painting the eaves on the house.  It's great to have it getting done, along with all the other projects that show up as he's working on it.  Except when he's using the sander at 7:30 in the morning....

We had a very cheap date last week - went and saw Indiana Jones with 2 gift certificates, then went to Russ' Restaurant (local cheap restaurant) with a "buy one get one free" coupon.  Not too shabby.

Quick trip to Traverse City to take g'pa to see Aunt Leona.  A friend was telling me about a great mall & restaurant they go to when there... nope, I said - going to spend the day at a nursing home.  Was very glad to be able to spend the time with her, tho.

The trouble with being so busy is that time flies... I'm so looking forward to the reunion, but know that when it gets here, summer is almost gone.  I'm not ready for that!!!!
